After the bicycle – bench created for the Rocambolesc ice cream parlour (that we covered in diarioDESIGN) and other plate designs such as El Gol de Mesi, Boulder plate, Facetat and El Món Roca, here is another successful collaboration between Andreu Carulla and El Celler de Can Roca restaurant. The designer has created a new collection of aluminium plates in the shape of a slice of bread that is totally unique and original.

PlatDePa, which means breadplate, is made from aluminium using slices of rustic-style bread as mould. When put together, they resemble a loaf.
Bread has always been a principal foodstuff, across the world and in many cultures. Taking inspiration from the typical pa amb tomàquet (bread spread with tomato pulp and doused in olive oil) that is a mainstay of Catalan cusine and served with just about everything, PlatDePa is conceived to be a ‘support’ -or plate- on which to serve all manner of tapas and snacks.
